About Us

Paula Sutton founded the Sutton Swim School in the year 2000.  She began in her backyard pool with five children. Within four years time her school had increased to dramatically, purely by word of mouth. Since moving in January of 2005 to our brand new facility, we have increased our student base by more than double.

Paula Sutton was a former employee at De Anza Cupertino Aquatics, also known as DACA. She was intensively trained at both DACA and La Petite Baleen swim school in Half Moon Bay. Paula has been teaching continuously for the last 12 years. She is a member of the United States Swim School Association and attends swim conferences regularly to continue to expand her skills and knowledge.

Sutton Swim School is a family owned and operated establishment with a fully CPR certified staff. Our school is a fully indoor facility with locker rooms, showers, a large viewing area with internet access and children's play area.

Our Mission

It is the mission of the Sutton Swim School to provide the best possible experience to its students through high quality, compassionate swimming instruction by caring, patient, well-trained instructors. Through positive reinforcement and detailed practice of technique, we build our student's mental and physical fitness.

What We Offer

Sutton Swim School offers classes for babies up through adults, and all of the classes offered are held once a week for 30 minutes.

Parent with Baby Classes:

Our classes for babies start as young as three months and up through 36 months. The children gradually learn to submerge and swim with some independence by doing a series of songs and games that build their skills and confidence. The parent must know how to swim. Pink Ribbons are awarded to any student who has graduated from a baby class.

Children:

A novice swimmer who is at least three years old can enter a rainbow level class without a parent. Children who are beginners may feel uncomfortable and cry. This is normal and to be expected. When a child does not cry for two consecutive weeks they earn a Rainbow ribbon. If your child already has the necessary skills they may register with the approximate ribbon level that matches their skills. If you are unsure about what ribbon level your child may be you may speak to the staff at the front desk or give us a call at (408) 996-9800.
